DC has unveiled the first trailer for its highly anticipated animated series, Creature Commandos, set to debut in December under the creative direction of James Gunn. This show marks a pivotal addition to the DC universe, centering on a unique band of antiheroes tasked with perilous missions for the U.S. government, reminiscent of the popular Suicide Squad.
The newly released trailer reveals more about the plot, showcasing Rick Flag leading an eclectic team of non-human villains, including The Bride, Dr. Phosphorus, Weasel, G.I. Robot, Nina Mazursky, and Frankenstein. Unlike the human-centric Suicide Squad, this group, dubbed Task Force M—where “M” stands for “monster”—is still under the guidance of Amanda Waller.
While the trailer offers a glimpse into the characters’ dynamics, it hints that Creature Commandos will retain the wit and humor characteristic of Gunn’s previous DC films, such as The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker. Viola Davis returns to voice Amanda Waller, alongside notable cast members David Harbour, Sean Gunn, and Frank Grillo.
In addition to Creature Commandos, DC recently launched another animated series, Suicide Squad Isekai, which follows Harley Quinn and her team as they navigate a high-fantasy world, although it is unrelated to the upcoming show.
