In 2010, Jackmaster combined his record labels Dress 2 Sweat and Wireblock, the latter co-founded with his brothers Calum and Neil Morton, to establish the new label Numbers. This label took its name from their collaborative club night in Glasgow, which continues to thrive with dance events both locally and in other cities. Under the Numbers label, they released music from renowned artists like Sophie, Jamie xx, Hudson Mohawke, Jessie Ware, and Rustie, accessible in both digital and vinyl formats.
Jackmaster received the Breakthrough DJ accolade at the Best of British Awards in 2010, marking the beginning of numerous achievements in his career. He later earned notable rankings in DJ Magazine, secured a spot in Resident Advisor’s Top 100 DJs polls, and attained a residency on BBC Radio 1. Notably, he was the first recipient of the Sub Club Electronic Music Award at the 2016 Scottish Music Awards and received the Tennent’s Golden Can Award for Contributions to Scottish Culture in 2017.
Throughout his career, Jackmaster released original singles, including “Nitro” and “Let’s Go,” but his most recognized works include the curated album FabricLive.57, released in 2011, and the 2016 mix DJ-Kicks Jackmaster. His latest contributions include the 2023’s Party Going On EP and collaborations with Avision titled “Bumpin’” and “Just Get Up.”
In 2018, Jackmaster made headlines when he publicly apologized for inappropriate behavior at the Loves Saves the Day festival, stating he acted lewdly toward festival staff during a drug-induced blackout. He acknowledged the seriousness of his actions and expressed remorse for the impact it had on others.
Following the news of his passing, numerous artists paid tribute to Jackmaster, highlighting his influence on the music scene. Notable figures including Diplo, Honey Dijon, and Modeselektor expressed their condolences, with Disclosure stating, “The music scene will never be the same without you. Thank you for all the amazing memories, shows, and laughs we had together.”
