Ever since Disney announced plans to reduce the number of Marvel shows on its streaming platform, the anticipation surrounding the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever spin-off series, Ironheart, has been palpable. Recently, Marvel unveiled new footage featuring Dominique Thorne reprising her role as Riri Williams at the D23 event.
Although Marvel has not released any clips from Ironheart online, initial glimpses reveal that Riri is back at MIT, facing new challenges without the same resources she had in Wakanda Forever. Notably, Jim Rash returns as the Dean of MIT, creating tension as Riri might face expulsion from the school.
Riri’s primary goal is to reconstruct her Ironheart armor, with the assistance of Anthony Ramos’ character, Parker Robbins. While not yet known as The Hood, Parker influences Riri to take a darker route as they acquire what she needs to build her suit. The early images of the new armor suggest a more handmade approach compared to her previous suit crafted in Wakanda. Riri is clearly aware that her actions may not be right, yet she proceeds regardless.
During the Marvel presentation at D23, executive producer Ryan Coogler, along with Thorne and other cast members, confirmed that Ironheart is set to premiere on Disney+ in 2025.
In related news, the Daredevil: Born Again trailer captivated the D23 audience, alongside excitement for the Human Torch’s costume in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The Star Wars franchise also showcased new content, including a trailer for Skeleton Crew and the first footage from The Mandalorian featuring Grogu. Additionally, Toy Story 5 is in development, and Avatar 3 has officially received its title.
