In a significant development for the defense sector, Vem Technologies has announced a ₹1,000 crore investment in the first phase of its new production facility at the National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) in Zaheerabad, Telangana.
Industries and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu confirmed that the integrated production center is expected to commence trial runs by next December, creating approximately 1,000 job opportunities for the local workforce.
This ambitious project occupies 511 acres in Zaheerabad, part of Sangareddy district, located about 100 km from Hyderabad along the Mumbai Highway, which is becoming a hub for industrial development.
Minister Babu has urged the District Administration to swiftly address the acquisition of 43 acres essential for the project. He also directed power utility officials to expedite the completion of a 33 KV power line critical for the facility’s operation within four months.
Furthermore, the Minister recommended adjustments to the road plan and the diversion of existing power lines, optic fiber cables, and water supply lines to facilitate the project. The discussions included Vem Technologies Chairman V. Venkata Raju and government officials.
In line with its strategy to enhance defense manufacturing capabilities, Vem Technologies had previously signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Telangana government in October 2021 for the establishment of an integrated defense facility at Yelgoi, near Zaheerabad.
Mr. Raju outlined that the upcoming plant aims to produce advanced weapon systems, including missiles, radars, and fighter planes, with an anticipated workforce of about 2,000 personnel over the next five years.
