The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) has launched an investigation into allegations that former national police chief Pol Gen Torsak Sukvimol accepted money from an online gambling syndicate. NACC Secretary-General Sarote Phuengramphan announced on Monday that there is sufficient witness testimony and evidence to warrant a thorough inquiry.
The investigation will focus on Pol Gen Torsak along with seven additional suspects linked to this case. Reports indicate that the benefits in question are associated with both the online gambling operations and 17 other illicit business ventures.
Mr. Sarote confirmed that the NACC will handle the investigation internally. Furthermore, the commission is also reviewing similar allegations involving former deputy national police chief Pol Gen Surachate Hakparn, although additional facts are needed before any conclusions can be drawn.
