ECNETNews reports that the Forest Department recently conducted an observation of a gaur sighted with a branch lodged in one of its eye sockets.
Following these reports, officials from the forest department, guided by the Kundha forest ranger, investigated the area near Kattery Dam in Ketti, where the gaur was last spotted. Their search led them to a gaur matching the description in the photograph, prompting close observation.
According to officials, the branch appeared to have either fallen off or been dislodged by the animal itself, as it was observed moving and feeding normally. “There were no indications of significant injury to its eye, suggesting that the branch may have only been entangled in its fur,” stated a forest department representative.
After thorough observation, officials determined that intervention was unnecessary. While they believe the animal in question is indeed the same one photographed, they urged local residents to report any sightings of animals with visible injuries.
