Each month, Pokémon Go players engage in the highly anticipated Community Day, where a specific Pokémon shines brightly, becoming available to catch in its Shiny variant. This January, the spotlight is on Sprigatito, the beloved grassy feline. However, players eager to add this Pokémon to their collection will notice a significant price increase for the event’s ticket, doubling from previous months.
In a notable change, the Community Day Ticket now costs $2, up from the previous price of $1. While the ticket includes a new reward—a battle pass—these passes are often available through bundles that may offer greater value.
In addition to the ticket price adjustment, Niantic has announced other modifications to the Community Day format. These changes, however, are described as tentative, with the company poised to reassess them in the future.
“Starting with January Community Day, expect to explore new free Timed Research, paid Special Research, and rare Field Research while hunting for the featured Pokémon within Pokémon GO: Dual Destiny,” an official announcement stated. “We are experimenting with fresh ideas for Community Day and will review these changes for the seasons ahead.”
As it stands, it remains unclear whether the increased price of the Community Day Ticket will be among the aspects Niantic chooses to revisit.
Mark your calendars: the January Community Day event is set for Sunday, January 5, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time. For further details on Community Day, how to catch Sprigatito, and other exciting upcoming events in Pokémon Go, stay tuned for our comprehensive guide to January 2025 activities.
