Eyewitnesses Describe Devastating Plane Crash in São Paulo
In a tragic incident in São Paulo, Brazil, a passenger plane has crashed, claiming the lives of all 62 individuals on board. Eyewitnesses have recounted harrowing moments leading up to the crash, describing the aircraft in a tailspin, emitting smoke before plummeting to the ground with a deafening noise.
Edival Monteiro de Souza, 67, witnessed the disaster unfold from his home. "It was in a tailspin and smoke was coming out of it," he recounted. "Then it came straight down and fell on top of the hill. The noise was very loud, it made you shudder."
Letícia Oliveira do Nascimento, 25, observed from a close distance as the plane fell. "It was clear that the pilot had lost control and that something bad could happen," she noted, describing the plane’s descent as resembling a paper plane.
Nathalie Cicari, another local resident, shared her experience of hearing a "very loud noise" while having lunch. "I went out on the balcony and saw the plane spinning. Within seconds, I realized that it was not a normal movement for a plane," she said. The moment of impact was described as terrifying, and she managed to evacuate her home, which was engulfed in smoke.
Felipe Magalhaes also witnessed the crash, stating, “When I heard the sound of the plane falling, I looked out my window at home and saw the moment it crashed." In a panic, he jumped over a wall to escape the confusion.
Reports indicate that bystanders flocked to the scene, with some capturing footage of the wreckage left behind. "What I saw was the wreckage of the plane; all that was left was the cabin," a witness named Pietro said.
Meanwhile, at the airport in Cascavel, from where the ill-fated flight took off, several passengers who missed the flight expressed their shock. Adriano Assis shared his experience at the airport, where he encountered a lack of information. "I even argued with [staff], but he ended up saving my life," he expressed, highlighting the surreal emotions of narrowly escaping disaster.
Another passenger, Jose Felipe, explained that he had opted to board the Voepass flight after his initial plans with a different airline fell through. "Man, it’s such an overwhelming feeling. I’m here shaking… Only God and I were aware of this moment," he reflected on his close call.
