In Minecraft, a reliable way to protect your base and control mob movements is by using fences. Unlike many other blocks, the fence acts as a strong barrier since players cannot jump over it while on the ground. This guide provides insights on crafting fences and optimizing their usage in the game.
Crafting a Fence in Minecraft
Creating a fence is straightforward, requiring only two essential resources. Here’s how to craft a basic fence:
- At a crafting table, place two Sticks in the middle and bottom middle slots.
- Next, place four Planks of the same wood type in the surrounding boxes.
The materials needed—Sticks and Planks—are easily obtainable. You can gather Planks by chopping down logs and placing them in a crafting table to convert them. Sticks can be made by stacking two Planks vertically. With these resources, you’ll be ready to construct your fence.
It’s crucial to use Planks from the same wood type, as mixing different wood types in your crafting recipe will not yield a fence. Each fence corresponds to the wood type used, affecting its color but not its functionality.
Once you have your fences, place one on a block and connect additional pieces to it; they will auto-align as long as they are placed on adjacent blocks. Make sure to leave space for a fence gate if desired. A fence gate, which allows access through the fence similar to a door, can be crafted using four Sticks and two Planks arranged in reverse order compared to the fence.
