With the highly anticipated release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 just around the corner, Activision has unveiled its updated anti-cheat strategy, leveraging the Ricochet software to safeguard the game against cheaters during its launch and beyond.
Activision aims to swiftly identify and eliminate cheaters within an hour of their first match to enhance the gaming experience for all players. The company has been actively monitoring game performance and technology to further reduce this timeframe.
During the recent Black Ops 6 beta testing, Ricochet successfully reduced the average time a cheater could participate in multiplayer matches. Initially, cheaters completed approximately 10 matches before being flagged, but with improved systems in place for the second weekend, that number was halved, allowing for bans after just five matches. Importantly, 25% of all bans from the second weekend occurred during a cheater’s very first match.
As Black Ops 6 launches, players will benefit from a suite of upgraded anti-cheat measures, including:
– An enhanced version of the kernel-level driver.
– Active protections such as Damage Shield, Disarm, Splat, Hallucination, and others.
– New machine-learning behavioral systems prioritized for rapid detection.
– Advanced detection models designed to counteract aim bots.
– Ongoing upgrades for Ranked Play that assure leaderboard accuracy.
Moreover, new anti-cheat features specifically tailored for Warzone have been introduced, with further details to be shared in upcoming announcements.
Activision’s Ricochet team is continuously innovating, employing AI tools to combat cheaters. By analyzing gameplay data from both cheaters and professional players in the Call of Duty League, they’re enhancing their understanding of player behavior. The aim is to differentiate between legitimate players and those engaging in foul play.
Activision emphasizes that the fight against cheaters is an ongoing commitment. “We are constantly striving to thwart cheating efforts. Our dedication to this cause runs deep.”
This announcement comes shortly after reports surfaced about players discovering a workaround in the Ricochet detection system, allowing them to unfairly target legitimate players in Warzone and Modern Warfare 3, which resulted in some erroneous bans that have since been lifted.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is set for release on October 25 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. For PC gamers, detailed information regarding specific features and hardware requirements will be available.
