Hoshoryu executed a flawless overarm throw that sent Oshoma crashing to the mat, securing his victory and bringing his record to 7-1. He is currently in a tie with fellow ozeki Kotozakura, as well as rank-and-filers Takanosho and Onokatsu.
In another exciting match, new ozeki Onosato showcased his power and agility, quickly overwhelming Tobizaru with a series of forceful thrusts that propelled him into the front row of the audience. This victory improved Onosato’s record to 6-2, while Tobizaru, now at 5-3, faced a setback. The 24-year-old Onosato is on a quest to become the first wrestler since 2006 to clinch a championship in his ozeki debut.
Sekiwake Kirishima B.Lhagvasuren, who is striving to reclaim his ozeki title, faced another challenging day, marking the ninth day of competition with a loss. He was defeated by fellow Sekiwake Daeisho on the eighth day, bringing his record to two wins and six losses in the current tournament.
