ECNETNews, New York, NY, August 29, 2024: Hilton, the renowned global luxury hotel brand, has announced its entry into the Guyanese market with plans to build its first two hotels in the capital city of Georgetown. This strategic expansion into the oil-rich South American nation signifies a growing recognition of Guyana’s potential in the tourism sector.
The two properties, Hilton Georgetown and DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Georgetown, will be part of an expansive oceanfront, mixed-use development, collectively offering over 400 rooms. The project is set to be owned by an affiliate of the Assets Group and managed by Hilton.
This announcement follows an earlier Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed nearly four years ago between a private entity and the Guyanese government to develop Hilton-branded hotels. However, due to lack of progress, Hilton has opted to pursue the project directly.
“We are committed to investing in Guyana, a nation on the cusp of significant growth and a bright future in tourism and hospitality,” stated a representative from Assets Group. They emphasized the importance of entering emerging markets with substantial potential and expressed optimism about Guyana’s economic future.
The 11-story Hilton Georgetown will provide 253 guest rooms and suites, ensuring an elevated lodging experience, while the DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Georgetown will offer 158 modern suites to accommodate diverse traveler needs.
“We are excited to introduce the flagship Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand, which represents the pinnacle of travel excellence, along with the celebrated DoubleTree by Hilton promise of warm hospitality and upscale comfort in Guyana,” remarked a Hilton representative. They highlighted the company’s eagerness to deliver exceptional hospitality through these two esteemed brands.
Hilton reaffirmed its commitment to providing premium, luxurious experiences that cater to the evolving expectations of discerning guests, marking a significant step in enhancing Guyana’s hospitality landscape.
