Hertz is initiating a strategic move to sell some of its electric vehicles directly to customers currently renting these cars. The rental car giant is actively reaching out to its clientele, presenting them with the opportunity to purchase the electric vehicles they are using.
A recent online discussion has highlighted an email from Hertz offering a customer the chance to buy a 2023 Tesla Model 3 for $17,913, sparking comments from others who received similar purchase offers for different EV models.
The communications director emphasized that this approach is not new and is part of a broader strategy that extends beyond just electric vehicles.
“By connecting our rental customers who opt into our emails to our sales channels, we’re enhancing awareness of our vehicle sales while providing a unique purchase opportunity for those interested in the cars they are currently renting,” the director stated.
Hertz has a long-standing history of selling vehicles from its fleet, and a variety of electric cars are currently listed for sale. This year, the company announced plans to divest approximately 30,000 EVs following significant financial losses.
