Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign announced an impressive fundraising achievement of $40 million following the Democratic National Convention. This surge in contributions peaked immediately after Harris delivered her acceptance speech.
Since launching her presidential bid just a month ago, the campaign has garnered a total of $540 million. In comparison, former President Donald Trump’s campaign reported approximately $327 million in funds as of August 1, following a collection of nearly $139 million in July.
While specific nightly fundraising totals from the DNC were not disclosed by Harris’s campaign, reports indicated that significant sums were raised each day: $13 million on Monday, $16.5 million on Tuesday, $23 million on Wednesday, and nearly $37 million on Thursday.
In a remarkable spike, over $7 million was raised between 11 p.m. and 12 a.m. ET on Thursday, marking a historic moment as Harris became the first Black woman and the first person of South Asian descent to accept the Democratic Party’s nomination for President.
The Harris campaign highlighted a record number of grassroots donations during the DNC week. Significantly, one-third of these contributions came from first-time donors, with a majority being women and a fifth identifying as young voters. Educators and healthcare professionals composed a substantial portion of the donor base, according to a memo from the campaign’s chair.
“As we approach Labor Day, our campaign is leveraging this momentum and support to engage battleground voters constantly until Election Day,” the chair emphasized.
