Xiaomi has unveiled a new addition to its flagship phone lineup designed for photography enthusiasts: the Xiaomi 15 Ultra.
Introduced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, this device stands out with its powerful camera capabilities, marking a significant upgrade for mobile photography.
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra features a groundbreaking quad-camera system, including a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with an impressive 4.3x optical zoom. Complementing this is a trio of 50-megapixel sensors: a main wide camera with a versatile variable aperture from f/1.6 to f/4.0, a 50-megapixel telephoto camera with a 3.2x optical zoom, and a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera with an f/1.8 aperture.
For selfies, it includes a 32-megapixel front camera with an f/2.0 aperture.
The device boasts a stunning 6.73-inch AMOLED display with peak brightness of 3,000 nits and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, it offers configurations of 12-16GB of RAM and storage options of 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB.
Its impressive battery capacity of 5,410mAh supports 90W wired charging, 80W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging. Additional features include stereo speakers, Hi-Res audio support, a fingerprint scanner, and two-way satellite communication. The phone also meets IP68 dust and water resistance standards.
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra comes in sleek color options including white, black, and a striking silver-chrome variant, sure to catch the eye.
On the software front, it runs on Android 15 with promises of up to four major updates, integrated with Xiaomi’s HyperOS and Google’s Gemini for enhanced AI capabilities.
The camera quality is exceptional, with Xiaomi claiming that combining two telephoto sensors yields lossless quality photos at up to 8.6x magnification. Users can also take great photos at even higher zoom levels, making it a top choice for action shots.
Although the device is slightly heavy at 229 grams (226 grams for other colors), it offers substantial performance and features.
Xiaomi also launched the Xiaomi 15 in Europe, which features a different design with a triple 50-megapixel camera setup. The Liquid Silver model offers a unique aesthetic, alongside options in black, white, and green.
This slightly smaller version has a 6.36-inch AMOLED display, a 120Hz refresh rate, a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, 12GB of RAM, and a 5,240mAh battery, proving to be a robust alternative.
