Scotts Head Housing Development: A Milestone in Sustainable Living in Dominica
In a significant stride towards sustainable living, the Scotts Head Housing Development on Dominica, known as the “nature island,” is nearing its completion and preparing to welcome new homeowners.
Fully funded by the Citizenship by Investment Programme, this development features thirteen (13) three-bedroom standalone homes and two buildings that host four (4) one-bedroom units, all constructed by local contractors.
The project site was recently inspected by the Minister of Housing, noting the stunning natural beauty of the area. “This site represents one of the most impressive housing developments on the island, boasting breathtaking views of both the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean,” said the Minister, highlighting the timely completion of this remarkable initiative.
The Minister confirmed that this development is just the beginning, marking the first of ten planned sites aimed at providing homes for deserving families. “We are committed to delivering new homes following the impacts of Hurricane Beryl on the island’s southern region. The Ministry of Housing is working diligently to turn this vision into reality!”
Covering an area of 12,207 square meters, the Scotts Head Housing Development includes bungalow units that offer a spacious living area, three comfortable bedrooms, two modern bathrooms, a laundry area, and a porch. The one-bedroom units feature a cozy living space, a bathroom with washing facilities, and a shared veranda.
Local representative Denise Charles expressed her enthusiasm for the project, stating, “The residents of Scotts Head are thrilled and grateful for this development. I eagerly anticipate handing over keys to these beautiful homes, which will significantly enhance the living standards and economic well-being of families in our community.”
With 95% of the construction completed, the remaining work consists of final touches including interior finishes, mechanical fixtures, and landscaping. The Scotts Head Housing Development is a key component of the government’s new housing initiatives launched in 2022, aiming to improve housing accessibility and resilience in Dominica.
