Half Waif, the musical project led by Nandi Rose, announces the release of a highly anticipated new album titled See You at the Maypole. This album is the follow-up to 2021’s Mythopoetics and is set to drop on October 4. The lead single, "Figurine," is already generating buzz and is accompanied by a striking video directed by Derrick Belcham, filmed at Rose’s home in upstate New York. The album art, created by Annika Tucksmith, complements the tracklist, which is available for fans.
In a recent statement, Rose shared that the album’s themes were inspired by a personal medical episode following a miscarriage. She describes "Figurine" as a reflection on resilience and the journey of moving forward after profound loss. "Not everyone will experience a miscarriage, but this song captures the essence of finding light again amid darkness," Rose explained. "I wanted to convey that this narrative of loss—including the loss of life, dreams, trust, and hope—is a universal experience."
The album features contributions from longtime collaborator Zubin Hensler and a talented ensemble of musicians, including percussionists Jason Burger and Zack Levine, guitarist Josh Marre, violinists Hannah Epperson and Elena Moon Park, clarinetist Kristina Teuschler, trombonist Willem de Koch, harpist Rebecca El-Saleh, and upright bassist Spencer Zahn.
Fans can look forward to a nationwide tour in support of See You at the Maypole. Stay tuned for the official tour dates and more updates!
