A group of anti-Trump voters, rallying behind former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley in the Republican presidential primary, is responding to a cease and desist letter from Haley. The letter demands that they cease using her name to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris.
The political action committee, initially known as Haley Voters for Biden, has now been rebranded to Haley Voters for Harris following President Biden’s exit from the race. The PAC aims to unify former Haley supporters, many of whom have expressed hesitations about both Biden and former President Trump, to advocate for the Democratic nominee.
In a letter from attorney Michael G. Adams representing Haley, the group is instructed to refrain from any usage of Haley’s “name, image, or likeness that implies her support for the election of Kamala Harris as President of the United States.”
Haley Voters for Harris issued a statement clarifying that it does not claim to represent Haley or her views. The group emphasized their commitment to engaging voters and promoting Vice President Harris as the superior choice for the nation.
Craig Snyder, director of Haley Voters for Harris, stated in an interview that the group’s name reflects the sentiments of many and the intentions of voters heading into November.
Despite initially withholding her endorsement, Haley eventually supported Trump, delivering a speech at the Republican National Convention to encourage her followers to do the same. Throughout her campaign, she expressed the belief that Biden would likely step aside for Harris.
Harris is poised to become the official Democratic nominee following an upcoming vote early next month.
