The Gombe State Police Command has confirmed the tragic killing of Reverend Bala Galadima, a prominent clergy of the Evangelical Church Winning All, in the Lubo community within the Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Area.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, with authorities identifying it as a robbery gone wrong. Police Public Relations Officer DSP Buhari Abdullahi stated that the attackers entered the clergyman’s home late at night, indicating their intent to commit robbery.
According to Abdullahi, Reverend Galadima was likely shot in the back while attempting to escape, reflecting a distressing outcome of the encounter. Following the incident, Commissioner of Police Bello Yahaya visited the site and the hospital where the deceased was taken, promising that a special squad has been deployed to ensure peace in the area. He assured the public that the perpetrators would be apprehended and face the full consequences of their actions.
Witnesses report that the gunmen initially targeted the ECWA Church before proceeding to a nearby compound where they stole money. A resident named Ahmadu noted that the pastor was shot after he peered outside, curious about the commotion.
This incident has raised significant concerns over security in the region, prompting local law enforcement to take immediate actions to restore safety.
