In a remarkable achievement, a senior police officer from Gujarat has made history by becoming the first IPS officer from the state to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa. Harresh Dudhat proudly hoisted both the Indian flag and the Gujarat Police flag at the summit, marking a significant milestone.
Currently serving in the State Intelligence Bureau, Dudhat reached an impressive altitude of 17,000 feet during his climb in Tanzania. An avid mountaineer and trekker, he has committed to various challenging expeditions.
In 2024, Dudhat aimed to scale Mount Everest but faced challenges that prevented him from advancing beyond the base camp. He has also successfully completed the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra on two occasions.
Reflecting on his climbing experience, Dudhat remarked, “I had decided earlier that on the 76th Republic Day of India, I would hoist the national flag on Mount Kilimanjaro.” He described the final 12 hours of the ascent as particularly strenuous due to snowfall, which presented significant obstacles. “Despite the challenges, I reached the summit,” he noted.
Looking ahead, Dudhat now aims to conquer Mount Elbrus, the highest peak in Europe. His outstanding accomplishment has not only brought recognition to the Gujarat Police but also serves as an inspiration for fellow officers.
