Mark Robinson Suffers Burns During Campaign Event, Remains Positive and Committed
MOUNT AIRY, N.C. — Mark Robinson, the Republican Lieutenant Governor of North Carolina, sustained burns while campaigning for governor during a truck show this past Friday night.
Robinson was attending the Mayberry Truck Show in Mount Airy when the incident occurred, according to his campaign.
He received treatment for second-degree burns at Northern Regional Hospital in Mount Airy.
His campaign shared that Robinson is in good spirits and values the support from the community, expressing enthusiasm to return to campaigning as scheduled on Saturday morning.
Details surrounding the incident remain unclear, as campaign representatives did not immediately provide further information. Robinson had a series of campaign activities lined up throughout the day, starting with Moore County Republicans. He is expected to continue his schedule with four stops planned for Saturday.
Robinson, who has served as lieutenant governor since 2021, is challenging Democratic nominee Josh Stein, the state’s attorney general. The current governor, Roy Cooper, is unable to run for re-election due to term limits.
Recently, Robinson has faced backlash from within his party following reports of prior controversial remarks made online. The claims have led to several resignations from his campaign and office staff.
Despite the criticism, Robinson has denied writing the incendiary comments and has commissioned a law firm to conduct an investigation into the allegations.
