The Odisha Governor’s office has urged the State government to conduct an impartial investigation into the mysterious death of a Jharkhand student at a city-based engineering college.
The deceased, identified as Abhishek Rabi, had enrolled in the Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER) on September 10, and his body was discovered near his hostel just three days later.
In an official statement, the Raj Bhawan remarked, “The body was found under suspicious circumstances, prompting the State government to ensure a thorough investigation into the incident.”
This intervention from Odisha Raj Bhawan followed a request from Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren to his Odisha counterpart, Mohan Majhi, pressing for a high-level inquiry into the engineering student’s death and advocating for action against those responsible.
According to sources from ITER, the city police have initiated an unnatural death case and are currently investigating the matter. An ITER spokesperson indicated that the college had no comment at this time.
