New York Governor Kathy Hochul Diagnosed with Skin Cancer
NEW YORK — Governor Kathy Hochul has announced she has been diagnosed with skin cancer and is scheduled for a removal procedure this week.
During a press briefing, the governor revealed that her doctor detected basal cell carcinoma on her nose during a routine checkup a few weeks ago, referring to it as a “tiny, tiny speck.”
At 66 years old, Hochul confirmed the procedure will take place on Friday morning.
Basal cell carcinoma is one of the most prevalent forms of skin cancer but is highly treatable, particularly when identified early. This slow-growing cancer typically remains confined to the skin’s surface, and doctors commonly address it through minor surgical removal.
Governor Hochul emphasized the importance of regular medical checkups as a vital part of health management.
