Ahead of Deepavali, the Tamil Nadu government, under the leadership of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, has announced a significant financial support package for over 2.75 lakh eligible employees and workers in State-run Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) for the 2023-24 fiscal year. The total expenditure for the initiative is estimated at ₹369.65 crore.
Eligible employees from Tangedco, various State Transport Corporations, and the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation will receive an 8.33% bonus along with an 11.67% ex-gratia payment, as stated in an official announcement.
Furthermore, workers employed in profit-making PSUs will benefit from a 20% total payout, which includes the same bonus and ex-gratia rates.
In addition, ‘C’ and ‘D’ category workers from the Tamil Nadu Housing Board and the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board will receive a 10% payout, comprising an 8.33% bonus and 1.67% ex-gratia.
Moreover, ‘C’ and ‘D’ category workers from the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board are also set to receive an 8.33% bonus. Contract staff working for the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation will receive an ex-gratia payment of ₹3,000, while permanent employees may see bonuses ranging from ₹8,400 to ₹16,800.
This announcement comes as a timely gesture, ensuring that workers are adequately rewarded as the festive season approaches.
