The Gombe State Government has taken steps to support local security agencies by distributing essential food supplies. On Monday, the government presented 380 bags of 25kg rice, 380 bags of 50kg sorghum, and 240 cartons of spaghetti to these agencies.
During the symbolic presentation, which occurred under the auspices of the Executive Secretary, Haruna Abdullahi, it was confirmed that Governor Muhammadu Yahaya had approved the initiative to extend food item distributions. This effort aims to provide relief to security personnel and their families during challenging times, ensuring they receive vital support.
The distribution is part of the state government’s ongoing commitment to alleviate food shortages affecting citizens across the country. The Information Officer from the Office of the Secretary to the Government, Joshua Danmalam, emphasized that past distributions included a variety of food items across all 11 Local Government Areas, facilitated by local chairmen and supported by supplies from the Federal Government and the North-East Development Commission.
Danmalam stated, “Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s administration has consistently provided palliatives to vulnerable groups, religious organizations, and civil society.”
He assured that more distributions are in the pipeline, urging security agency leaders to ensure fair distribution of these essential items among their personnel. The security forces expressed their gratitude for the governor’s support and committed to ensuring that the food supplies are distributed judiciously.
