Gombe State has announced that over 1,000 Almajiri children will benefit from its Contributory HealthCare Management Agency through a new equity program aimed at improving health access for vulnerable populations.
The initiative was launched with support from the office of the Special Adviser to the Governor in Tsansanya, targeting Almajiri and Islamiyya schools. During the event, Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, represented by Deputy Governor Dr. Manassah Jatau, emphasized the administration’s commitment to addressing the health needs of the community, particularly for those who are less privileged.
“This scheme is vital for ensuring that many individuals who would otherwise struggle to afford healthcare can receive necessary medical services,” the Governor stated. He highlighted this milestone as a key advancement in healthcare provision within Gombe, marking the enrollment of 1,000 Almajiri students into the state’s Health Insurance Scheme.
Governor Yahaya also pointed out that Almajiri children, being part of a vulnerable group, are at higher risk of communicable diseases due to their exposure to challenging conditions. This program is designed to mitigate those risks and enhance the overall health security of these children.
