State of Emergency in Rivers: Governor Fubara Addresses Citizens
In light of the recent state of emergency declared in Rivers State, suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara has issued a statement to the residents, emphasizing a commitment to constitutional order and community welfare.
Governor Fubara reflected on his tenure, expressing that every decision made was rooted in a dedication to the safety and progress of the state. He noted that despite the ongoing political challenges, the administration has prioritized maintaining peace and upholding the law.
Following federal intervention, Fubara highlighted the government’s willingness to restore normalcy by reinstating resigned commissioners and adhering to a recent Supreme Court judgment. These actions, he stated, were intended to cultivate an environment of stability and unity rather than for personal gain.
However, he lamented the obstruction faced from certain members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, which has hindered the progress towards genuine peace. Fubara reassured citizens that essential services such as salary payments and significant development projects have continued, underlining that Rivers State remains secure under his leadership.
As the situation develops, Fubara urged the people of Rivers to maintain peace and adhere to the law while stressing the importance of collaboration with relevant institutions to strengthen democratic practices. He expressed confidence in the resilience of the citizens and faith in the democratic process, concluding with a message of hope for the future of Rivers State.
God bless Rivers State. God bless Nigeria.
