Linda Cardellini is rumored to be in talks for a significant role in Crystal Lake, the highly anticipated prequel series to the iconic Friday the 13th franchise produced by A24 and Peacock.
Showrunner Brad Caleb Kane, known for his work on It: Welcome to Derry, is steering the project, which was initially announced in 2022. The series was originally set to be helmed by Bryan Fuller, who departed the project in May 2024.
According to sources, Cardellini is being considered to portray Pamela Voorhees, Jason’s mother, in Crystal Lake. Although no official agreement has been reached, it is suggested that Cardellini would find it challenging to decline such a pivotal role.
Cardellini is recognized for her roles as Velma Dinkley in the beloved Scooby-Doo films and Laura Barton in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She gained acclaim for her performance as Lindsay Weir in Freaks and Geeks and most recently appeared in Netflix’s No Good Deed as Margo Starling.
Her impressive filmography includes notable titles such as 2001’s Legally Blonde, 2005’s Brokeback Mountain, 2010’s Super, 2018’s A Simple Favor, and 2019’s The Curse of La Llorona, with her latest work in 2024’s Nutcrackers.
What else do we know about the Crystal Lake series?
Details about the plot of Crystal Lake are still under wraps. Kane will serve as executive producer alongside Victor Miller, Marc Toberoff, Robert M. Barsamian, and Robert P. Barsamian.
“From the moment I watched Jason Voorhees squeeze a guy’s eyeball out of its socket (in glorious 3D!) at the tender age of 8 years old, I knew my creative path was someday destined to converge with The Man Behind The Mask,” Kane expressed. “Nothing defined my childhood more than growing up in the golden age of the slasher flick, and nothing’s defined the genre more than Friday The 13th. I couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity to contribute a chapter to this iconic franchise, particularly with fearless partners.”
The premiere date for Crystal Lake has yet to be announced, keeping fans eager for updates.
