The Kalaburagi Regional Centre of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) recently took a significant step towards empowering education by distributing free laptops to 74 Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) students on August 9, 2024.
During a dedicated ceremony held on the Kalaburagi campus, laptops were presented to students enrolled in various courses, highlighting VTU’s commitment to supporting underprivileged communities.
Dr. Baswaraj Gadgay, Director of the Kalaburagi Regional Centre, acknowledged the efforts of VTU’s leadership in facilitating this initiative. “This laptop distribution is part of VTU’s broader mission to uplift socially and economically marginalized students. These high-quality laptops will undoubtedly assist in shaping their future careers,” he stated.
Notably, the Kalaburagi centre has a higher demographic of SC and ST students compared to other regional centres, reflecting the university’s inclusive approach.
The event saw participation from various stakeholders, including special officers, program coordinators, faculty, and students. Prof. Rahul Moolbharati, the SC/ST Liaison Officer, played a pivotal role in organizing the event, which was hosted by Dr. Shivaraman Goud from the MBA department.
