Franz Ferdinand Announces New Album Release: The Human Fear Set for January 10, 2025
Franz Ferdinand is making a highly anticipated comeback with their first album in seven years, titled The Human Fear, scheduled for release on January 10, 2025. The band has collaborated once again with producer Mark Ralph, known for his work on Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action, and recorded this new project at AYR studios in Scotland. The lead single “Audacious” is accompanied by a captivating video directed by Andy Knowles.
In a recent statement, lead vocalist Alex Kapranos described the essence of “Audacious,” highlighting its theme: “It’s about having an audacious response when you feel the fabric of existence come undone around you. Being bold, contrary. Peering over the edge into the eternity of non-existence and saying Aye! Not today, thank you!”
Kapranos further reflected on the album, saying, “Making this record was one of the most life-affirming experiences I’ve had, but it’s called The Human Fear. Fear reminds you that you’re alive. I think we all are addicted in some way to the buzz it can give us. How we respond to it shows how we are human. So here’s a collection of songs exploring the thrill of being human through our fears. Not that you’d necessarily notice on first listen.”
The Human Fear will be released via Domino, marking the first album featuring drummer Audrey Tait and guitarist Dino Bardot. The songwriting team includes Kapranos, Bob Hardy, and Julian Corrie. Fans can look forward to a European tour early next year, celebrating the band’s new lineup and exciting musical direction.
