Four workers sustained severe injuries during a recent industrial accident at a pharmaceutical unit in Jawaharlal Nehru Pharma City, Parwada, in Anakapalli district on August 23, 2024. The incident took place at Synergies Active Ingredients during the early hours of Friday.
According to district officials, all injured workers hail from Jharkhand and were promptly transported to a private hospital in Vizag for urgent medical care. In response to the incident, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu contacted district collector Vijaya Krishnan for updates on the situation and the medical support provided to the injured. He also instructed Home Minister V. Anitha to visit the site and the hospitalized workers at the private facility in Maharanipeta.
This incident marks the second fire accident in just 48 hours, coming shortly after the Chief Minister emphasized the need for stricter safety measures in industrial operations. This follows a tragic event on August 21, where an industrial accident at Escientia Advanced Sciences Private Limited in Atchutapuram SEZ resulted in 17 fatalities and 36 injuries.
Investigations are currently underway to determine the specifics surrounding the latest accident.
