Recent heavy rainfall in Alappuzha has caused significant flooding in several low-lying areas.
In response, the district administration has set up four relief camps, with two located in both Ambalappuzha and Chengannur taluks. As of Wednesday evening, 31 individuals from seven families have sought refuge in these camps.
Increased flow of floodwaters from the eastern regions has resulted in waterlogging, particularly in parts of upper Kuttanad and Kuttanad. Water levels in major rivers, including the Pampa, Achencoil, and Manimala, remain elevated. Officials report that there is no cause for alarm, as they continue to closely monitor river water levels.
Waterlogging has also been observed in low-lying areas across Chengannur, Ambalappuzha, and Cherthala taluks.
To address the situation, the Agriculture department has established a control room to evaluate crop damage and manage recovery efforts. For assistance, please contact the control room at 9497864490 or 9447400212.
