Four Naxalites were neutralized in a confrontation with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region, according to a police official on Sunday, January 5, 2025. Tragically, a head constable of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) also lost his life during the encounter.
The clash erupted on Saturday evening within a forested area of south Abujhmaad, located at the boundary between Narayanpur and Dantewada districts. A joint team of security personnel was conducting an anti-Naxalite operation when the exchange of gunfire began.
Following the cessation of hostilities late Saturday night, the bodies of the four Naxalites were recovered along with automatic weapons, including an AK-47 rifle and self-loading rifle (SLR), the official stated.
The fallen DRG head constable, identified as Sannu Karam, was confirmed deceased in the skirmish. Authorities are continuing search operations in the area to ensure safety and stability.
This incident is part of ongoing efforts to combat Naxalite insurgency in the region.
