Susan Wojcicki, the former CEO of YouTube and a prominent figure at Google, has passed away at the age of 56, as confirmed by her husband. She had been battling non-small cell lung cancer for the past two years.
In a heartfelt tribute, Dennis Troper shared, “My beloved wife of 26 years and mother to our five children left us today. Susan was not just my best friend and partner in life, but a brilliant mind, a loving mother, and a dear friend to many.”
Wojcicki, a pivotal force in Google’s establishment, stepped down as YouTube’s CEO in 2023 after leading the platform for nine years, significantly influencing entertainment, culture, and political discourse.
Wojcicki’s early connection with Google dates back to 1998, when she rented a room in her Menlo Park, California, home to co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Her contributions to the tech industry have left a lasting legacy.
Additionally, the family recently experienced the tragedy of losing their 19-year-old son, Marco Troper, who passed away in February while attending UC Berkeley as a freshman.
