A forest guard in the Rayagada district of Odisha has been arrested following allegations of attempting to molest a 12-year-old girl on Friday. The incident occurred at approximately 11:00 AM while the girl was returning home from school.
The accused, identified as Narasingha Satapathy, reportedly tried to lure the minor into his home with harmful intentions. The situation escalated when the victim’s younger sister, who was accompanying her, raised an alarm and alerted their family. Promptly, the girl’s relatives intervened, rescuing her from the situation and notifying local residents.
Angered by the incident, the villagers took matters into their own hands, assaulting the accused before handing him over to law enforcement. Police responded quickly, arresting Satapathy and transporting him to the Padmapur police station for further questioning.
The victim’s mother described the traumatic experience, stating, “My daughter had gone to school in the morning and was returning home when the forest guard attempted to molest her. He tried to pull her into his room, but her sister cried for help, prompting villagers to come to their aid.”
The Superintendent of Police for Rayagada confirmed the arrest and provided an update on the investigation, stating, “The case is currently under investigation. We are gathering evidence from multiple sources. A complaint has been filed by the minor girl at the Padmapur police station, leading to the arrest of the accused. We are interrogating all involved to uncover the facts surrounding the incident.”
