FKA twigs has released a captivating new video for her track “Childlike Things,” featuring notable appearances from influencer Jake Shane and North West. The short film, scripted by acclaimed playwright Jeremy O. Harris, showcases twigs as a whimsical idealist who dances eloquently in front of a skeptical label executive, played by Kevin Smith. In a humorous exchange, Smith advises her to collaborate with a rapper and raise the BPMs to gain traction on discovery playlists; however, twigs passionately argues for the deeper aspirations of art, telling the executive, “My fans think I’m a deity, so they don’t like it when I put rappers on my songs.” As the narrative unfolds, North West delivers a guest verse that ultimately convinces Smith of her artistic vision.
