Billionaire businessman Donald Trump is set to make history as the first sitting U.S. President to hold meme coins.
Claiming a stake in what many consider “magic internet money,” Trump’s entry into the cryptocurrency space signifies a notable shift.
Once inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States, Trump will uniquely hold a collection of meme coin assets, a first for any sitting U.S. leader.
Recent reports indicate that Trump’s crypto wallet contains approximately $8 million in meme coins. His holdings include $5.5 million in TROG tokens, $1.5 million in a TRUMP meme coin, 1.3 billion GUA coins valued at nearly $400,000, and $167,000 in TRUMPIUS tokens.
Despite previously expressing skepticism about cryptocurrencies, Trump’s perspective transformed in 2024 when he openly endorsed Bitcoin (BTC) and vowed to champion the right to own it.
The former President also ventured into non-fungible tokens, generating significant profits in Ether (ETH). As of the latest reports, his wallet features 496.77 ETH, translating to roughly $1.6 million.
Many in the crypto community anticipate that Trump’s administration could pave the way for a clear regulatory framework for digital assets. His nominations, including Paul Atkins for SEC chair and the appointment of crypto expert David Sacks, hint at a pro-crypto policy direction.
Additionally, industry leaders are said to have supported Trump’s inauguration, urging him to issue an executive order to establish a U.S. Bitcoin reserve within his first 100 days in office.
