Red Hot Organization has unveiled an ambitious new compilation album titled Transa, designed as a “spiritual journey celebrating trans individuals.” The album features the first new track by Sade in 14 years, a 30-minute piece from André 3000, and covers by artists such as Moses Sumney and Fleet Foxes, alongside numerous other contributors including Yaeji, Perfume Genius, Sam Smith, and Clairo. Transa is set to release on November 22.
The compilation is structured into eight thematic chapters: Womb of the Soul, Survival, Dark Night, Awakening, Grief, Acceptance, Liberation, and Reinvention. The project boasts contributions from over 100 artists, including notable names like Jeff Tweedy, Grouper, and Laura Jane Grace.
In 2021, producers Dust Reid and Massima Bell conceptualized Transa as an eight-part album reflecting the eight colors of the rainbow pride flag. They specifically invited trans and nonbinary musicians to partake, fostering connections with their musical inspirations.
Reid expressed, “We aimed to highlight the incredible contributions of trans artists and create a narrative that positions them as leaders in society. We encourage everyone to engage in self-exploration regarding their gender, fostering a future built on values of community and healing.”
