The Committee on Consequential Adjustments for civil servant salaries has officially announced that the new minimum wage will come into effect on July 29, 2024.
The announcement was detailed in a Memorandum of Understanding released at the conclusion of the committee’s recent meeting, which occurred in Abuja. The Memorandum states, “The NSIWC will generate the appropriate salary templates for other consolidated salary structures for implementation; the effective date of the implementation shall be July 29, 2024.”
This committee was formed to implement the National Minimum Wage Act 2024, which raises the national minimum wage from ₦30,000 to ₦70,000. Comprising 16 members, the committee’s responsibilities include negotiating consequential salary adjustments and establishing templates for the approved minimum wage’s implementation.
