A fact-finding committee from the BJP, led by former Deputy Chief Minister C.N. Ashwath Narayan, visited Nagamangala town in Mandya district on Monday following violent incidents during a Ganesha idol immersion procession.
Accompanied by former Minister K.C. Narayana Gowda and retired IPS officer Bhaskar Rao, the committee assessed damage to local shops affected by the violence.
Narayan criticized the State government for its inadequate response in maintaining law and order, stressing the importance of compensating those impacted by the unrest.
Gowda indicated that the committee aims to uncover the underlying causes of the communal tensions in Nagamangala and will present its findings in a formal report.
Furthermore, Rao emphasized that with appropriate planning and crisis management, future communal disturbances could be avoided, warning that neglecting to address such issues promptly could escalate into more significant problems.
