Bungie has once again kept Guardians on their toes with the unexpected launch of the Barrow Dyad Exotic mission, coinciding with this week’s reset. Players can now embark on this new quest to acquire a uniquely designed SMG.
Finding the Nether Blights
For those already engaged with Destiny 2 Episode Heresy, the Nether activity will feel familiar. Contrary to previous assumptions, players can initiate the Exotic quest from any landing zone in the Nether, although locating the quest steps might take some effort.
To commence your adventure, look for a prominent Taken Blight. Navigate the hidden platforms and jump into it, then search for a plate on the ground after teleporting. Using your Ghost can help reveal the hidden path if you’re having difficulty.
Symbol Guidance and Collecting Fragments
Once activated, a symbol and message will appear on your HUD. Follow the direction indicated—typically referring to the right—to be teleported to a spot where you can collect the Taken Osseous Fragment from a stone bowl.
Unlocking the Scotopic Rune
Next, head to the Slab within Eris’s Flat in the Lost City and purchase the Scotopic Rune upgrade. This essential tier three Runic Enhancement will initiate The Taken Path quest, leading you to uncover Hive secrets in Sorrow’s Harbor.
Locating the Lost Sector Blights
Travel to the K1 Revelation Lost Sector in Sorrow’s Harbor, where you will encounter a Blight similar to the one from the Nether. Be sure to follow the displayed symbol, deal with the Taken enemies that spawn, and collect the fragment. Repeat this process at the Veles Labyrinth in the Forgotten Shore Lost Sector.
Initiating the Curse Quests
After conquering the two Lost Sectors, return to the Slab to trigger three “curse” quests—Curse of Endurance, Curse of Urgency, and Curse of Revenge. Each quest takes you to different locations where you’ll find Taken Relics. Defeat the enemies to extend the timer and dunk the relic in the designated area.
Subsequently, revisit the Nether activity where you’ll interact with Hive statues to summon mini-bosses. Defeating these foes will yield more Taken Osseous Fragments, leading you closer to the Exotic quest named Derealize.
Embarking on the Derealize Quest
This mission involves battling Tormentors and other Dread faction enemies while pursuing a commander. In an expansive arena, players will reactivate previous steps with a Taken Relic to overcome additional curses. Continue this cycle until you can confront the boss, and navigate through puzzles to acquire the Corrupted Fragment.
Derealize is rich in lore, making it a compelling quest for those invested in the game’s storyline. Successfully completing it guarantees the Barrow Dyad Exotic SMG as a reward.
Once mastered, players can start a new quest for intrinsic upgrades for the Barrow Dyad, provided they reach a rank of nine at the Slab and gather additional Fragments located within the Nether activity.
Exploring the Barrow Dyad Exotic SMG
The Barrow Dyad Exotic SMG presents a unique design reminiscent of a disc and features the Panic Response Exotic perk. This allows it to generate Blight with each damaging shot, while depletion occurs when the weapon is idle, gradually replenishing its magazine. Players can reload to convert stored Blight into Blighted Seekers that pursue enemies, dealing substantial damage.
