Sharge Management Co is ramping up efforts to attract logistics and express delivery operators as it aims to significantly expand its customer base in the electric vehicle (EV) sector.
The company has set a bold goal to support 10,000 EVs, including freight vehicles, taxis, and passenger cars, by 2030, according to statements from the managing director.
These sectors are often characterized by extensive operations and a wide network of drivers, making them prime targets for Sharge Management’s growth strategy.
“We are actively pursuing partnerships within logistics and express delivery sectors, with significant collaborations expected to be formed in the near future,” the managing director stated without disclosing specific details.
Sharge Management has already onboarded Lalamove Thailand to enhance charging solutions for its EV drivers.
Currently, Thailand’s logistics and parcel delivery sectors comprise about 1.2 million vehicles, with only 0.05% (673 vehicles) classified as EVs, as per data from the Department of Land Transport.
Conversely, EVs are gaining traction in passenger cars and taxis, accounting for 2.91% (2,251 vehicles) of the total 77,288 vehicles in those categories.
As the logistics and transportation sectors continue to thrive in Thailand, Sharge Management aims to capitalize on this expansion opportunity. The parcel delivery market alone boasts a value of 107 billion baht.
The managing director highlighted the potential for drivers to find financial relief through electric mobility, as it counters rising oil costs and aligns with government initiatives to curb carbon emissions.
“Oil-powered vehicles typically emit around 211 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometer. Transitioning to electric vehicles can significantly curtail these emissions,” he noted.
Moreover, drivers could realize savings, with fuel costs averaging 175 baht less per 100 kilometers when switching to EVs.
