ECNETNews, October 1, 2024: Amazon has unveiled plans to establish its inaugural delivery center in the Caribbean, marking a significant development in the region’s logistics landscape.
Situated in the municipality of Dorado, Puerto Rico, the upcoming 100,000-square-foot facility aims to improve product distribution and delivery across the island and surrounding areas. Once operational, it is projected to generate over 100 full- and part-time jobs while offering more than 200 positions for drivers through its Delivery Service Partners (DSP) program. The construction of the facility is slated for completion by mid-2025.
“Puerto Rico presents a prime opportunity for business expansion, and this new delivery center will enable us to better serve our customers with increased speed and efficiency,” stated a company spokesperson.
Governor Pedro Pierluisi of Puerto Rico expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, emphasizing that “each new economic project, like this one, strengthens the resilience and potential of the Puerto Rican people while displaying the island’s offerings to the global stage.”
Additionally, Manolo Cidre, Secretary of the Department of Economic Development and Commerce, remarked, “Amazon’s commitment to invest in Puerto Rico reflects growing confidence in our market. This development will not only create valuable job opportunities but also enhance collaboration with local service providers, further establishing Puerto Rico as an attractive destination for investors.”
