WASHINGTON, USA – The Organization of American States (OAS) is set to host the highly anticipated tenth edition of the Cybersecurity Symposium on October 1-2 in Santo Domingo. Recognized as the leading event in the hemisphere, this symposium will unite top experts from across the continent.
Titled “DisruptX: Redefining the Future of Cybersecurity in Latin America and the Caribbean,” the event promises to explore vital topics shaping the future of cybersecurity.
Key discussion points include:
• The utilization of generative AI by extremist groups;
• The implications of disruptive technologies on cybersecurity practices;
• The geopolitical landscape of generative AI;
• Responsible adoption of emerging technologies by governments.
The symposium will emphasize the necessity of enhancing international cooperation to safeguard digital frontiers. Through insightful presentations and case studies, attendees will gain a deeper understanding of cybersecurity in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Prominent participants confirmed to attend include Jose David Montilla, Vice Minister of Digital Agenda for the Dominican Republic; Jennifer Bachus, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Cyberspace and Digital Policy of the United States; and Ivan Marques, Secretary for Multidimensional Security of the OAS.
In addition, on October 3, the “RICET Regional Initiative for Cybersecurity Education and Training” will be launched. This initiative aims to strengthen the foundations of cybersecurity education, training, and workforce development across the Americas.
