Elon Musk has announced that Neuralink has successfully implanted a brain chip into a second human patient, marking a significant step forward for the medical technology company.
Neuralink, designed to assist individuals with spinal cord injuries, quadriplegia, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), made headlines in January 2024 when it inserted its first brain chip implant into a human. However, the process was not without complications, which were disclosed by the company in May.
Recently, Musk took part in an extensive podcast discussion about Neuralink, where he shared insights about the second human test. During the interview, he emphasized the promising results of the latest implant.

Musk provided limited information about the second patient, who reportedly has a spinal cord injury. “I don’t want to jinx it, but it seems to have gone extremely well with the second implant,” Musk noted, highlighting that there is a strong signal and functionality from the electrodes.
The podcast also featured discussions with key members of the Neuralink team, including the first test patient and the company’s leadership, shedding light on the advancements in brain-machine interfaces.
