A suspected vandal was electrocuted while attempting to steal electricity infrastructure in the Asokoro area of the Federal Capital Territory. The FCT Police Command confirmed that officers discovered the suspect’s lifeless body near step-down electricity lines on Yakubu Gowon Crescent on Wednesday, January 30, 2025.
According to a police statement, responding officers found tools that were allegedly used for the attempted theft. It was reported that while the deceased was located at the scene, an accomplice managed to flee prior to the police’s arrival.
“On January 30, 2025, FCT Police operatives responded to a distress call and found a lifeless body near step-down electricity lines,” the statement noted. “Tools for theft were also recovered, but the accomplice had already escaped.”
The FCT Police Command issued a strong warning against vandalism of public infrastructure, highlighting the seriousness of such offenses. “Engaging in these criminal activities will not be tolerated in the FCT,” the spokesperson stated. “Security operatives remain vigilant to apprehend offenders and safeguard critical national assets.”
