Regular physical activity and sufficient sleep are crucial components of a heart-healthy lifestyle. These are part of the eight essential habits that can significantly reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke, as well as improve the health of those already facing cardiovascular issues.
In 2022, the American Heart Association introduced these habits, known as Life’s Essential 8, aimed at enhancing heart health across the United States. Key recommendations include ensuring adults get between 7 to 9 hours of sleep each night, engaging in at least 2.5 hours of moderate physical activity weekly, avoiding tobacco use, consuming a balanced diet, maintaining a healthy weight, and effectively managing health conditions.
