Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto is preparing for a reciprocal visit to General Secretary To Lam of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV). This visit is anticipated to lead to a significant agreement between Indonesia and Vietnam.
“I have expressed my intention to make a reciprocal visit to Vietnam in the near future,” President Prabowo Subianto announced during a joint statement with General Secretary To Lam at the State Palace in Central Jakarta on March 10.
A key agenda for this visit includes the signing of the long-awaited Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) boundary agreement, which has been under discussion for over a decade.
“I hope that during the visit, we can finalize the agreement for our economic cooperation, a crucial pact that has remained unresolved for many years—possibly over a decade. Alhamdulillah, it is finally completed,” the President stated.
The President also highlighted that the ratification process for the agreement will be conducted by each country’s parliament. Following ratification, Prabowo plans to travel to Vietnam for the official signing.
“The ratification process in our parliament is expected to take place in April, after Eid al-Fitr, while their legislative body will also complete their ratification soon,” he noted.
President Prabowo added, “God willing, I will sign the agreement in Hanoi during my state visit, which serves as a reciprocal gesture following the General Secretary’s visit to Indonesia.”
