Dundee Football Club has announced the dismissal of manager Tony Docherty and his coaching staff, following their recent 2-0 victory over St Johnstone, which ensured their place in the Scottish Premiership for the upcoming season.
Docherty, who joined Dundee in May 2023 after serving as assistant manager at Kilmarnock, led the team to a commendable top-six finish in his inaugural season. However, this past season concluded with the club finishing in 10th place, prompting the decision to part ways with Docherty and his colleagues, Stuart Taylor, Alan Combe, and Graeme Henderson.
In an official statement, the club remarked, “While Sunday’s result secured our standing in the league, the overall performance this season did not align with the expectations of the club.”
The statement further noted, “Considering the team’s finish just above the relegation play-off, the decision to relieve Tony of his responsibilities has been made. We are set to restructure the football department, and the search for a new management team will commence immediately. No further comments will be released at this time.”
