Dominica and Rwanda have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that establishes visa-free travel between the two nations.
This groundbreaking agreement is expected to enhance travel convenience and strengthen diplomatic ties, while also fostering cultural exchanges, business ventures, and tourism opportunities.
Under the new arrangement, Rwandan citizens can travel to Dominica without a visa, and Dominican citizens will enjoy the same privilege for travel to Rwanda.
The formal signing took place in New York during the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Tuesday, September 24.
Dominica’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Dr. Vince Henderson, represented Dominica in the signing, while Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Olivier Nduhunggirehe, signed on behalf of Rwanda.
Rwanda, a landlocked nation in east-central Africa, is often known as “the land of a thousand hills.” The country has an estimated population of over 13 million as of 2024.
Kinyarwanda is the primary language spoken throughout Rwanda and is one of the nation’s four official languages, alongside Swahili, English, and French.
